Dr. Bowman is a native of Baltimore and the founder of Blue Ridge Orthopedics. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree at West Virginia University. He earned a Masters degree in Bioengineering from Clemson University. Upon completion of an Internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, Dr. Bowman served as a flight surgeon in the United States Army at Fort Lewis, Washington. He then completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at M.S. Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University.
In 2006, Dr. Bowman received the Jack C. Hughston Physician of the Year Award at the 30th Annual American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting for his distinguished contribution in sports physical therapy.
Dr. Bowman serves as orthopedic team physician for Clemson University. He, along with his partners at Blue Ridge Orthopedics, also serves as team physicians for Southern Wesleyan and Anderson Universities. Dr. Bowman holds the titles of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University, Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Medical University of South Carolina and Director of AnMed Family Practice Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Bowman is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the South Carolina Orthopedic Society, the Orthopedic Research Society and a member of the South Carolina Medical Association Medical Aspect of Sports Committee.
